2nd Annual Georgetown 5K Run For Health Care
The Second Annual Georgetown Run for Healthcare to benefit the Clinic was a great success. Organized by a graduating Georgetown University senior, the race, held on April 3rd, attracted Georgetown University students, friends of the Clinic and even a few traveling business people who saw it advertised in the online publication Run Washington. The run was a healthy and fun way to make a difference providing healthcare to those who are uninsured.
The Washington Free Clinic is featured in the Catalog for Philanthropy, a publication designed to raise public awareness of, and respect for, philanthropy; increase and improve charitable giving; and facilitate satisfying relationships between donors and recipients. This year’s Catalog focus is on Washington, D.C.-based charities. The Washington Free Clinic was one of 70 charities, described by the Catalog as “among the best” charities in Washington, chosen by a team of professional grantmakers based on the organization’s distinction, merit, cost-effectiveness, and accomplishment. The Affairs of the Heart Gala 2003 was a special commemoratory event in honor of the Washington Free Clinic’s 35th anniversary. Providing free health care to those in greatest need has always been at the core of The Washington Free Clinic’s mission. Hosted by Ambassador Margarita Escobar and held in the stunningly beautiful Organization of American States on October 31st, 2003, the Gala was attended by over 200 guests.

The Washington Free Clininc held its Annual Meeting on June 14, 2003. Over 30 people attended the meeting which served to recognize the outstanding work of the Clinic’s corps of dedicated staff and volunteers as well as conduct a board election. This year’s meeting was particularly significant because the Clinic is celebrating 35 years of service to the greater Washington, D.C. community.
